Terrorist and criminals are threatening the society more than ever before. There groups are benefiting from the advance technology. They communicate easier and form global communities that are hard to track. Fortunately the social media, event logs, phone call logs, web logs, etc, constitute a rich source for knowledge discovery. There is a serious need for powerful techniques and tools capable of achieving the ultimate goal of early warning to help in defeating the source of threat. Motivating by this need which has high social impact, the research related to open source intelligence and security informatics is gaining popularity in the academia, industry and government institutes. The three communities are working closely to develop new techniques and technologies. Thus, the aim of the FOSINT-SI symposium is to provide a unique international forum for researchers, professionals, and industrial practitioners to socialize, seek collaboration, share and exchange their data, knowledge, and expertise.
