SEALS 2012 - Annual conference of Southeast Asian Linguistics Society

The Southeast Asian Linguistics Society - SEALS - originally founded at Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan) in 1990, now holds its annual conferences in various locations in the world, alternating between Asian and non-Asian countries. The 22nd annual SEALS conference will be held 30th May - 2nd June 2012, in Agay seaside resort, situated in the Var region on the French riviera.

This year's conference is co-organized by the following laboratories and institutions:

Institut de Recherche sur le Sud-Est Asiatique/Maison Asie-Pacifique - Université de Provence (IRSEA/MAP),
Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD).
Scope

SEALS provides a forum to share research findings at various stages or thought provoking ideas on the languages and linguistics of Southeast Asia, including Austroasiatic, Austronesian, Hmong-Mien, Tibeto-Burman and Tai-Kadai language families. Linguistic investigations that interest SEALS cover a range of topics including descriptive, theoretical, or historical linguistics, linguistics anthropology (ethnolinguistics, language attitude and ideology, discourse and conversation analysis, language and gender, language and politics), language planning, literacy and bilingual education.
