Topics/Call fo Papers

This conference is orientated towards the next generation of traffic psychology researchers. In Europe alone there are over 200 Ph.D.s involved in full-time research in traffic and transport psychology and they will be the ones that decide the future research agenda in this area.

The conference will also focus on the interaction between theory and practice. Much of the research in traffic psychology is done without having any impact on practice, and much "best practice" in road safety is based on common sense rather than through research. This interaction between theory and practice ultimately decides the relevance and impact of research carried out in traffic psychology.

Therefore the aim of the conference is to provide a platform for communication between researchers, young and established, and between researchers and practitioners. The ultimate aim being to provide impetus and provide a common basis for the future of research in traffic psychology.

Format

The objective of this conference is to facilitate interaction between researchers working in the field of traffic and transport psychology, with a special emphasis on interaction between young and more experienced researchers. The format therefore is that of a research-oriented conference with oral presentations that present innovative empirical research not presented or published previously. This format focuses on the interchange of research results through keynotes, oral presentations, symposia, workshops, and poster sessions.

Proceedings

At present we do not have the plan to publish proceedings as an edited book. Instead we shall co-ordinate and try to publish good presentations in special issues of several journals.
