ELECTRO 2009 - 2009 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electronic and Photonic Devices & Systems (ELECTRO-2009)
Topics/Call fo Papers
The technology and reliability of electronic and photonic devices down to nanoscale including quantum devices are of great interests with particular reference to radio science and telecommunications. Since the discovery of the bipolar junction transistors, consistent efforts are being made to develop high-speed and low-power semiconductor based devices, circuits and systems for generation, detection, storage and processing of electrical signals together with their applications from the low frequencies to the optical domain. Despite the successful replacement of vacuum tube based devices by semiconductor technology, vacuum electron technology still plays dominant roles in the generation of high-power high-frequency microwave signals for specific applications such as in the radar, satellite communications, remote sensing, and microwave communication systems. Further, the development of semiconductor devices for generation and detection of electromagnetic signals in the optical domain has enabled to develop the modern day's optical network, communication and computing systems. The recent advances in VLSI/ULSI technology has put forward the development of high-speed and low-power digital circuits and computing systems leading to the tremendous growth in the present day's mobile communication and computing systems, computer networks and internet technology. With the advent of embedded systems ranging from portable devices such as digital watches and MP4 players, to large stationary installations like traffic lights, factory controllers, or the systems controlling nuclear power plants with complexity varying from low, with a single microcontroller chip, to very high with multiple units, peripherals and networks mounted inside a large chassis or enclosure, has enabled us to develop special computer systems designed to perform one or a few dedicated functions, often with real-time computing constraints. Clearly, the advances in the electronic and photonic devices and systems will play the major role in the future generation communication and computing systems and ELECTRO-2009 could provide a suitable forum for the interactions among the academicians, researchers, scientists and technologists of national and international reputes to exchange their views, thoughts and ideas in this regard.
The overwhelming response of the national level symposiums ELECTRO-2001 and ELECTRO-2005 organized by our department in 2001 and 2005 respectively, has strongly motivated us to organize this international conference. The forum would provide a unique opportunity to the participants to get globally exposed to the state-of-the-art developments in all the major areas of research in electronic and photonic devices and systems such as microelectronics and photonics, VLSI, microwave engineering, vacuum electronics, embedded systems, communication technology etc. We strongly believe that the participants will be significantly benefited by acquiring new thoughts and ideas of research in the field of electronic and photonic devices, circuits and systems through their interactions with eminent academicians, scientists, research scholars, engineers and entrepreneurs from different corners of the world.
