Topics/Call fo Papers

The International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM) has established itself as an influential and recognized International event, being the only major international conference entirely devoted to electrical machines. Started in London in 1974, ICEM is now established as a regular event. Very successful recent editions were held in Helsinki (Finland) in 2000, Bruges (Belgium) in 2002, Cracow (Poland) in 2004, Chania (Greece) in 2006, Vilamoura (Portugal) in 2008 and Roma (Italy) in 2010.

In order to keep the scientific quality of past ICEM editions, the following actions have been launched:

Only full provisional papers (6 pages) may be submitted for evaluation
On-line Conference Paper Submission System has been adopted
Each paper will be reviewed by at least 3 independent referees
Topics are arranged in tracks, each one having three co-chairs to manage the reviewing process and the technical program
Special Sessions and Tutorials will be organized
A Student Forum will be organized
Awards will be delivered
A “fantastic” technical visit will be proposed on September 5, 2012
TOPICS

Main scopes of the conference include technology advances in design, analysis, manufacturing and measurements for electrical machines and drives. Topics covered by the conference are based on the following tracks:

TPC-1 Classical rotating field machines (Co-Chairs: Frédéric Gillon, Gianmario Pellegrino, Dave Dorrell)

Induction machines ? Synchronous magnet synchronous machines ? Reluctance machines ? DC machines

TPC-2 Innovative machines and actuators (Co-Chairs: Jean-François Rouchon, Akira Chiba, Yve Perriard)

Linear machines ? Levitation/Launching machines ? Micro & nano machines ? Piezo & electrostatic actuators

TPC-3 Electrical drives (Co-Chairs: Bruno Robert, Radu Bojoi, Peter Omand Rasmussen)

Sensorless control ? Modulation techniques ? Vector control ? Direct torque control ? Flux & power control ? Fault tolerant control

TPC-4 Design and related problems (Co-Chairs: Noureddine Takorabet, Andrea Cavagnino, Ayman El-Refaie)

Materials (insulation, magnetic and supra) ? Analytical design ? Optimal design

TPC-5 Condition monitoring, diagnosis (Co-Chairs: Raphael Romary, Fabio Giulii Capponi, Mario Pacas)

Monitoring and diagnosis ? Measurement/Instrumentation ? Thermal, acoustic noise and vibration problems

TPC-6 Embedded applications (Co-chairs: Christophe Forgez, Chris Gerada, Leila Parsa)

Aeronautics ? Space technology ? Earth transportation (road, railway) ? Ship propulsion and generation

TPC-7 Grid-connected or emergency (Co-chairs: Marc Petit, Marcello Pucci, Josep Guerrero)

Transformers and coils ? Power generation ? Renewable ? Emergency generation & monitoring ? Storage system

In addition, special sessions, based on groups of 6 papers (or multiple of 6), can be organized on the initiative of any volunteer proposing NO MORE than 2 papers inside. Special session topics must be in areas consistent with those of the conference. Proposals on Education will be more than welcome.

We look forward to meeting you soon in Marseille.

Gérard-André Capolino, General Chair

Carole Henaux, Aldo Boglietti, Bertrand Nogarede, Technical Program Co-Chairs
