Workshop Aim
The main aim of the workshop is to bring together educators, researchers and practitioners to discuss and advance current state of software engineering education (SEE). The workshop will be group discussions on various topics of SEE and will not be a mini-conference with papers and presentations. Groups will be encouraged to plan and outline draft papers and furnish recommendations in their area. A set of recommendations is expected at the end of the workshop. After the workshop, groups can complete the papers and submit them for publication to an appropriate journal or conference.
Topics/Scope
Participants from both academia and industry are invited to submit the position statements on all topics related to SEE. These include, but are not limited to:
? Assessment
? Assimilation of recent technology developments in teaching
? Certification
? Challenges in teaching software engineering (SE) courses
? Curriculum
? Degree in Software Engineering
? Distance Education
? Educational innovations
? Industry issues/needs/demands
? Industry-academia collaboration/partnership
? Innovations in on-line courseware or e-learning
? Minimum knowledge required from the graduates who have undertaken SE courses
? Observations based on real-life experience in the classroom
? Offering software engineering projects to UG and PG students
? Pedagogical issues
? Reporting rigorous experiments or surveys on teaching, teaching methods or practices
? Teaching methods, practices
? The future of SEE
? Use of the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK)
Submission Instructions
Participants will be selected based on the position statements. The selection will be made to ensure a good mix of views, opinions and experiences rather than any quality measure of the statements. Selection will be done by the workshop organisers. The workshop will be restricted to maximum 20 participants for effective discussion. Participants must adhere to submission format of ACM SIG guidelines (refer to workshop website for details). Please submit the position statements in PDF at EasyChair (refer to workshop website for details).
