Politics in the Information Age is a set of book volumes being published
by Springer Springer Science+Business Media, LLC and being edited by
Jonathan Bishop and Ashu M. G. Solo. We are now taking submissions of
full chapters for review with or without prior chapter proposal
submissions. However, if you want to know if a chapter is relevant to
our book volumes, you can send us a short abstract for our evaluation
first, but you can directly submit chapters for review now too.
Purpose of Politics in the Information Age Set of Book Volumes to be
Published by Springer
Technology and particularly the Internet have brought about many changes
in the realm of politics. Recent revolutions in many countries in the
Middle East and North Africa have started in large part due to social
networking Web sites like Facebook and Twitter. Social networking has
also played a role in protests and riots in numerous countries. The
whistleblower Web site Wikileaks has had a tremendous impact in exposing
government corruption. Politicians and candidates use their own Web
sites and social networking profiles to get their message out. The
mainstream media no longer has a monopoly on political commentary as
anybody can set up a blog or post a video online. Political activists
can network together online. Voting is often done using electronic
voting machines, which has created many problems. In the future, voting
will likely be done over the Internet, but there are many issues that
need to be worked out. Internet freedom and equal access are important
issues that have many facets. The Internet offers the means for greater
citizen input and interaction in government political processes. These
kinds of issues will be studied in the research book volumes Politics in
the Information Age being edited by A. M. G. Solo and J. Bishop and
being published by Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
