The scientific programme of the 7th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention aims to provide new insights into HIV disease development, biomedical prevention, clinical care that can lead to novel research directions and help translate theoretical advances into clinical and prevention practice while building evidence for successful programme operations and implementation. The Scientific Programme Committee is dedicated to ensuring that the content will be relevant to today’s questions, including addressing the challenges of expanding treatment and prevention in resource-limited settings. An additional priority is ensuring that the presentations focus on the latest HIV science and its practical applications for public and individual health in the context of where the epidemic will be in 2013.
In addition to abstract-driven sessions, the conference will offer daily plenary sessions featuring distinguished researchers, scientific leaders and clinical experts. Other non?abstract-driven sessions include Symposia, focusing on a single, clearly defined topic or issue; Bridging Sessions, which will provide an opportunity for a multi-disciplinary, cross-track discussion of a single issue from a variety of viewpoints; and Special Sessions with some of the world’s key research leaders, high-level international AIDS Ambassadors and policy specialists. IAS 2013 will also hold professional development workshops, where the Scientific Programme Committee will select a dozen of the world's top topics and teachers to offer a variety of targeted workshops aimed at strengthening the skills and expanding the knowledge of HIV professionals.
