Recent advances in the fields of wireless technology, multimedia communications and intelligent systems have
exhibited a strong potential and tendency on improving human life in every facet, including entertainment,
socialization, business, healthcare and education. The technology advances should make the city, the planet and
the society a healthy, happy place for people to live to learn and to grow. They will not only enhance the quality
of life, but will influence the way we live, work and socialize. To approach the ultimate goal of building an
advanced society, various networking and communications technologies need to be combined to offer different
services anytime and anywhere while satisfying the quality requirements of end-users in an elegant, energyefficient and intelligent fashion.
