Themed “Asian Growth: Global Responsibility”, CSR Asia Summit 2011 is the annual flagship event of CSR Asia which aims to be the most innovative and thought-provoking gathering on corporate social responsibility in Asia.

Four thematic content tracks for 2011:

Asian CSR Strategies

Companies today are under intense pressure to rebuild public trust and stay competitive in the market by implementing CSR strategies. An effective CSR strategy requires involving the right people, finding resources, engaging stakeholders, setting targets and objectives, implementing plans, and measuring your progress. It is important to understand what are the important issues driving change. This stream will encompass sessions that give you essential knowledge on SRI funds, tools for implementing a CSR strategy, practical CSR for SMEs, tactics on reporting, and the results of the Asian Sustainability Rating™ 2011.

Environmental

The tremendous economic growth experienced in Asia has significant environmental impacts and continues to drive deforestation, waste generation, the destruction of natural resources and an increase of greenhouse gases and other emissions. It is imperative for responsible businesses to address the impacts of their decisions and activities on the environment. This requires looking beyond their own business operations and engaging with suppliers and consumers. This stream will address cutting-edge issues as well as provide new insights into established practices around life cycle assessment, biodiversity, green buildings and partnerships.

Community Investment

Asian markets are booming and business, as the main driver of this growth, is at the heart of improving the lives of many in Asia. Still, Asian communities are facing enormous development challenges ? the wealth gap is widening and marginalised groups are left neglected. When companies utilise their strengths ? innovation, creativity, strategic thinking ? to engage directly with these communities, the results can be striking. This stream shows the potential of Strategic Community Investment. It will take delegates from theory to practice, challenging them to think, learn and invest.

Sustainable Supply Chains and Food Security

With sustainability issues still being high on the food and beverage industry agenda, environmental, economic and social requirements are being implemented along the supply chain like never before. Food manufacturers and retailers are facing the effects of urbanization, climate change, and ageing on farmers all over the world. Asia is the major food supplier to the world but also becoming a giant consumer on the same as the rise of middle classes across the region. And how organizations and business in the region can address the major food security issues affecting us today?
