First Announcement
8th International Conference
POROUS SEMICONDUCTORS - SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
25-30 March, 2012 Malaga, Spain
Organized by the Institute for Material Science of the University of Valencia, Spain
Objectives
The overall theme, style and atmosphere of the Conference will adhere to those of
preceding PSST Meetings in Spain at:
? Mallorca, PSST-1998
? Madrid, PSST-2000
? Tenerife, PSST-2002
? Cullera, Valencia, PSST-2004
? Sitges, Barcelona, PSST-2006
? Sa Coma, Mallorca, PSST-2008
? Valencia, PSST-2010
The Conference will critically analyze the state-of-the-art in the field of porous
semiconductors during the two years that have passed since the PSST-2010 event.
The emphasis will be kept on developing and understanding fabrication, properties
and uses of porous semiconductors. We are the only international conference
dedicated entirely to porous semiconductors, promoting their use in the life sciences,
as well as in electronics, sensing, chemical and photochemical applications.
The Conference will continue to serve to join researchers active in physics and
chemistry of semiconductors, optics, electrochemistry, analytical instrumentation,
biochemistry, medicine and other related fields. Both established experts and
representative of fields with emerging activities are welcome to come and achieve
better coordination of their efforts and establish new cooperation links.

semiconductors are welcome. Particular areas of interest supervised by Conference
Chairs will include:
? Electrochemical and metal-assisted chemical etching ? A.G.N.
? Pore filling ? A.G.N.
? Novel fabrication techniques ? L.T.C.
? Comparative studies with mesoporous ceramics & mesoporous metals ? L.T.C.
? Mesopore chemistries & confinement effects ? M.J.S.
? Microsystems engineering A.G.N
? Electronic applications ? A.G.N.
? Sensors ? M.J.S.
? Luminescence & microphotonics ? L.T.C.
? Energy conversion ? M.J.S.
? Medical diagnostics, imaging and therapy ? L.T.C.
? Novel structures & emerging applications ? M.J.S.
Three invited speakers will be chosen by the Conference Chairs in advance. The final
program will be determined by the members of the International Scientific
Committee (Advisory Board) by January 30, 2012. The type of presentation (invited,
oral or poster) will be determined on the basis of the voting procedure. The authors
will be informed about the modality of their presentation in advance and voting
results will be published on the Conference web- site.
Publications
These types of publications are previewed:

? A book of full-size peer-reviewed Journal (to be confirmed)

Short Course
An introductory Short Course will be organized at the beginning of the Conference
on Sunday, 25 March, 2012 for young scientists and those who are new in the field
(similarly to those provide at previous Conferences since the PSST-2002). The topics
and lecturers will be proposed and selected by the members of the International
Scientific Committee.
Hotel Accommodation
The Conference activities are likely to be held in the AC Malaga Palacio, Cortina del
Muelle, 1, Malaga 29015 (to be confirmed by Sept. 2011).
