Fifth Annual Ph.D. Forum on Pervasive Computing and Communications
IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications
PerCom 2012 (http//www.percom.org/)
Lugano, Switzerland, March 19 - 23, 2012
*** Extended Abstract Submission Deadline: December 15, 2011 ***
PerCom 2012 will host the Fifth Annual Ph.D. Forum on Pervasive Computing and Communications. The Ph.D. Forum will provide an opportunity for Ph.D. students to present their dissertation research, including work in progress, to the pervasive computing and communication community. In addition, the Forum will provide participants individualized access to established pervasive computing and communications researchers. The Forum will be organized as a combined one-day workshop prior to the PerCom conference and a poster session during the main conference to encourage interaction between Ph.D. students and researchers from academia, industry, and government.
Current Ph.D. students and researchers who have completed their Ph.D. dissertations since May 2011 are encouraged to submit extended abstracts. Submissions that are substantially similar to presentations at the 2011 PerCom Ph.D. Forum are not allowed. The Ph.D. student should be the sole author, although contributions of the advisor and others should be acknowledged. Submissions will be reviewed by the Ph.D. Forum Committee to ensure quality and relevance. Authors of accepted submissions are expected to travel to PerCom 2012 to participate in the Ph.D. Forum Workshop (to be held on March 19) and to present a poster at the PerCom'12 conference. Standard PerCom 2012 registration fees apply. Participants who are current full-time students are eligible for the student registration fee.
The Ph.D. Forum Committee will evaluate all of the submitted extended abstracts. Accepted abstracts will appear in the conference proceedings and will be indexed by DBLP and the IEEE digital library. A second evaluation phase will occur at the conference based on the poster and the participants' discussions during the poster session. Special recognition will be given to the most innovative and/or most promising research project(s) presented at the Ph.D. Forum. As in previous years, we expect to receive sponsorship for this event from Google.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:
Ph.D. students are invited to submit two-page extended abstracts that describe current research and potential contributions to theory and innovation in pervasive computing and communications. The extended abstract needs to be registered by November 30, 2011 and the two-page submission must be received by no later than December 15, 2011. Extended abstracts should include the author's name, affiliation, and email address. Submissions must be PDF files and be written in English.
