Introduction
A variety of embedded systems such as home media systems, portable players, smart phones, and automotive embedded systems have surrounded the human beings, and continued the convergence of communications and computing functions with these devices. Embedded systems are transforming themselves into really complex systems, thus they can create more opportunities and challenges to develop more powerful and energy efficient processors, peripherals and other accessories. The goal of the Second IEEE International Symposium on Advanced Topicss on Embedded Systems and Applications (ESA 2011), is to bring together researchers both in industry and academia from the field of embedded systems and applications, to disseminate the recent advances made in the area, discuss future research directions, and exchange application experiences.
Scope and Interests
The IEEE ESA-11 Symposium consists of peer-reviewed papers in the field of embedded systems and applications. The IEEE ESA-11 Symposium aims to provide an additional forum within IEEE ICESS 2011 for presenting, exchanging and discussing the most recent advances in different aspects of embedded computing, systems and applications, including:
(1) Embedded System Architectures
(2) Embedded System Software
(3) Embedded System Optimization
(4) Embedded Software and Agents
(5) Real-Time Systems and Operating Systems
(6) Application-Specific Processors and Devices
(7) Power-Aware Computing
(8) System/Network-on-Chips
(9) Reconfigurable Computing Systems and Applications
(10) Cyber-Physical Systems
(11) Pervasive Computing and Communications
(12) Middleware and Peer-to-Peer Computing
(13) Reconfigurable Computing
(14) QoS Provisioning for Embedded Systems
(15) Embedded Database & Multimedia Systems
(16) Consumer Electronics
(17) Case Studies and Industry Experiences
(18) Miscellaneous Emerging Topics
Submission and Publication Information
The accepted papers from this symposium will be published by IEEE Computer Society in IEEE ICESS-11 conference proceedings (indexed by EI Compendex and ISTP). Papers should be written in English conforming to the IEEE Conference Proceedings Format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column). Papers should be submitted through the paper submission system at the symposium website. Each paper is limited to 6 pages (or 10 pages with the over length charge). Distinguished papers, after further revisions, will be published in two special issues: (1) Elsevier's Journal of Systems Architecture (JSA); (2) IEICE's Transactions on Information and Systems, both to be indexed by SCI and EI. Submitting a paper to the symposium means that, if the paper is accepted, at least one author should attend the symposium and present the paper. For no-show authors, their papers will be removed from the IEEE Computer Society digital library after the symposium and their affiliations will be notified.
Important Dates
(1) Paper submission due: July 25, 2011 (Extended Firm Deadline)
(2) Notification of decision: August 30, 2011
(3) Camera-ready papers due: September 30, 2011
