Special session on "Underwater Sensor Networks"
3 - 5 August 2012, Chennai, India
http://www.icacci-conference.org/water.html
The ocean covers most of our planet, is the source of most life on Earth, regulates our weather and climate and feeds much of the human population. The chiefly unexplored immensity of the ocean has riveted humans for as long as we have records. To explore aqueous environments, there is a need for large-scale, long-term and distributed data acquisition network. The ideal vehicle is a networked underwater sensor distributed system, referred to as Underwater Sensor Network. This novel networking model postures inter-disciplinary challenges that will require innovative technological solutions. The goal of this special session is to bring together researchers and practitioners in areas relevant to underwater networks.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Submissions of substantial, original and previously unpublished work are invited in all areas of Underwater Sensor Network. The maximum length of the paper is 10 pages (including figures and references). The paper should not contain page numbers or any special headers or footers. Authors should submit their papers online. Unregistered authors should first create an account on EDAS to log on.
All papers that conform to submission guidelines will be peer reviewed and evaluated based on originality, technical and/or research content/depth, correctness, relevance to conference, contributions, and readability. The manuscripts should be submitted in PDF format. Acceptance of papers will be communicated to authors by email. The Conference Proceedings will be published by ACM and all the accepted papers will be archived in the ACM digital library. At least one full paying author of each accepted paper must register for the Conference before the indicated deadline.
Topics of interest relevant to the area of underwater sensor networks include but not limited to:
Access control in underwater networks
Acoustic and radio underwater communication
Aquatic surveillance applications
Cross-layer protocols
Data collection, storage, and retrieval
Deployment analysis
Localization and synchronization
Modeling, simulation, and testbeds for underwater systems
Modems
Network architecture design
Power management schemes
Practical hardware and software platforms
QoS/performance in underwater communication
Routing protocols
Scalable underwater monitoring and measurement systems
Security and robustness
Target tracking
Underwater knowledge acquisition
Wired and wireless protocols
Advanced underwater sensor-based applications
Study cases, implementations and real deployments
Key Dates
Submission Starts 18 November 2011
Full paper submission Ends 10 February 2012
Acceptance Notification 5 April 2012
