As our beautiful country moves carefully out of pandemic restrictions, we re-confirm that at the 7th World Congress on Tuesday 7th to Thursday 9th June 2022 we shall all meet personally in historic Edinburgh. Together we will have all the valuable informal interactions of a major Congress, between the comprehensive range of plenary and break-out sessions. The Congress will provide a focus for developments worldwide of human rights-driven provision for people with mental and intellectual disabilities, and it will provide a powerful springboard for future research, reform and practical delivery.
We are proud and grateful to be by far the smallest country yet to host the Congress, and only the second European country, after it has now been awarded at least once to every inhabited continent except Africa. It is an accolade in particular for Scots law and the Scottish legal system, whose leading-edge experts are in worldwide demand. Our current approach to adult capacity was world-leading when it was introduced, but this new subject continues rapidly to develop, and the Congress will offer an opportunity to share and test out the findings and conclusions of our current major coordinated review of all areas of relevant law, practice and research.

In particular, please register now at the link above. That doesn’t commit you, but we will provisionally reserve a place for you and in addition to updating this website we will contact you direct regarding any changes we may be obliged to make in the event of continuing restrictions on live events. Delegates should however check for any travel or other restrictions applicable in their own countries.
