Employee or Independent Contractor? Exempt or Non-Exempt? Unpaid Intern, Volunteer or Paid Employee? Every year companies fail to properly classify their workers and such mistakes can be extremely costly. California’s AB5 legislation was an attempt to simplify employee classifications and adversely affected the ride-sharing businesses. Now, California has passed Proposition 22 which is designed to amend AB5 to provide relief for ride-sharing companies. Will it succeed or make matters worse?
