●Speakers
Prof. Yongping Li
Beijing Normal University, China
Her research interests involve in energy and environmental systems analysis, environmental pollution control, water resources management, and decision making under uncertainty. Since 2005, Li has led or involved in over 50 energy- and environment-related research projects. She has produced over 320 peer-refereed international journal papers (with an SCI-based H-index of 40 in Science Citation Index under Thomson Reuters’ Web of Science), and supervised over 60 Master/PhD students. She has been continuously selected as a highly cited scholar in the field of “environmental science” (by Elsevier) since 2013.
Prof. Ed McBean
University of Guelph, Canada
Speech: Managing Emerging Contaminants, a Key Priority for the 21stCentury
Dr. Ed McBean received his BASc from University of British Columbia (UBC) in 1968, and his PhD (Magna Cum Laude) from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1973. After a post-doc at Cornell University, he was a professor at the University of Waterloo in Canada and then worked in industry, as Vice President of CRA (3rd largest engineering firm in Canada) and President of CRA Engineering, Inc. In 2003, McBean was awarded a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Water Security and Supply, which he held at the University of Guelph until 2017. Subsequently, he has been a University of Guelph Research Leadership Chair Professor in Water Security. Ed is an academician in Canada, being a Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering and an academician in the US, being Diplomate, American Academy of Water resources Engineering and American Society of Civil Engineers. Ed has received many additional awards including the Research and Development Medal from Professional Engineers of Ontario, the K Y Lo Award from the Engineering Institute of Canada, Lifetime Achievement awards from both UBC and from Ton Duc Thang University in Viet Nam, and the Julian C. Smith Award from the Engineering Institute of Canada. Ed has published three books and more than 400 papers in engineering journals.
Prof. Yangwen Jia
China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), China
Prof. Yangwen Jia is a professor, a supervisor of PhD students and deputy director at Department of Water Resources, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR). He now also serves as an academic leader at the State Key Laboratory of Water Cycle Simulation and Regulation in River Basins (SKL-WAC) of China, a member of Committee on Climate Change Adaptation of IAHR, and an associate editor at Journal of Hydro-Environment Research (Elsevier). His research field is hydrology and water resources, and he is mainly engaged in fundamental theory study of nature-society dualistic water cycle in river basins, development and applications of distributed hydrological models and eco-hydrological models, and water resources assessment and highly-efficient utilization.
