The recent advent of context sensing has enabled many applications including healthcare, elderly safety, smart home, and smart buildings. Sophisticated work has been done by using devices like IoT sensors, smartphones, and wearables. On the other hand, these approaches require high installation and maintenance cost, which is one of the bars to the popularization of context sensing in some real-life applications. This has brought the need of further exploration of maintenance-free context sensing. Specifically, we need to investigate device-free context recognition and sustainable sensing systems with energy harvesting combined with low-power operations. To this goal, MFSens workshop provides a forum for researchers to exchange new research ideas, present their progress, and identify future directions in the field of maintenance-free context sensing.
This workshop solicits submissions from all areas relating to maintenance-free sensing as well as corresponding applications.
