Large businesses have been doing worksite wellness programs for decades. But for many small and medium size businesses, this is a new concept. Many employers don’t know where to start to offer programs that will improve employee productivity and morale, and reduce escalating health care costs. This session will review the barriers that small and medium businesses face when implementing worksite wellness initiatives, opportunities unique to small and medium businesses and how you can use the learnings of a research-backed initiative to implement a wellness strategy in your business. Participants will learn the basic elements of creating a successful worksite wellness program drawing from industry best practices and research.

Mari Ryan, CEO and founder of Advancing Wellness, is an expert in workplace well-being. She leverages over 30 years of business experience in various marketing, consulting and executive roles across a variety of different industries. For the past decade, Ms. Ryan has been creating healthier businesses and impacting the lives of employees, through her consulting work and speaking on worksite well-being.
Mari earned a Bachelor’s degree from Lesley University, an MBA from Boston University, a Master’s degree in Health Promotion from Nebraska Methodist College, and is a certified Worksite Wellness Consultant. She is the founder and former Board Chair of the Worksite Wellness Council of Massachusetts. Mari is an active member of the National Speakers Association.
Mari is the author of The Thriving Hive: How People-Centric Organizations Ignite Engagement and Fuel Results, winner of the 2019 Axiom Business Book award.
