Kharkiv 2020 - International Forum of Kharkiv School of Photography

KHARKIV FORUM OF PHOTOGRAPHY is the first interdisciplinary forum dedicated to a thorough analysis and contextual study of the Kharkiv School of Photography. The forum will take place on Аugust 18-21, 2020 public discussions and talks with Ukrainian and foreign experts.

We invite you to join the Forum by participating in the International Scientific Conference "KHARKIV SCHOOL OF PHOTOGRAPHY" in the following thematic sections:
Section 1. Kharkiv Photography: Past and Present
Section 2. Window to the West: Links between Ukrainian and European Photography
Section 3. Current Processes of Institutionalization of the Kharkiv School of Photography
Section 4. After Photography: Ukrainian Media Art
“It is difficult to imagine a more resonant phenomenon in contemporary Ukrainian art than the Kharkiv School of Photography. Having formed its own aesthetics at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, it has been established an influential and truly iconic phenomenon. The Kharkiv School of Photography can be proud of a number of popu-
lar personalities of global importance, led by Boris Mikhailov. What is the essence of the phenomenon of the Kharkiv School of Photography? In light of today's research, we propose to consider this phenomenon as a natural part of the cultural history of Ukraine in its relations with the world, especially (right) now, significant inter-
est in the ever-growing importance of the Kharkiv School of Photography is observed in the realm of the human ities. And this is what makes the forum extremely relevant in our contemporary moment.”
To become a participant of the conference, please fill in the application form available at https://forms.gle/tfN-RChLsPtTioYpC6 by May 1st 2020, 23:59 Kyiv time (UTC + 03:00, EEST) All the information (including the title of the report and
abstract) issubmitted in Ukrainian and English. The application must be submitted in doc or docx format!
From all the applications received, the organizers of the forum will select participants who will have an opportunity to speak at conferences, participate in round tables and discussions.
All other reports will be published in the digest, which will be published during the forum (the conditions of participation will be sent after agreement of the abstracts with the conference coordinators).
The Organizing Committee has the right to refuse to publish reports due to incompatibility with the thematic sections of the conference, the low scientific value of the text,
the presence of grammatical and punctuation errors or the presence of plagiarism.
