With the recent technological advancement and convergence of satellite communications, the Internet, and mobile wireless networking, the Space-Terrestrial Integrated Networks (STIN) has been envisioned. STIN is designed to integrate the extended space network, the Internet, and mobile wireless networks in order to provide comprehensive services and global anytime anywhere network access. Researchers would like to know how space and terrestrial networks can be combined together, and what are the challenges and solutions to the problems when integrating these networks. On the other hand, edge computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and software-defined networking (SDN) have been widely studied and applied in many application domains, however, they have not been brought into STIN. Given that it has huge potentials to improve the future network architecture by using these novel technologies, there are also many challenges that make the design and implementation of STIN a demanding task. The EINSTEIN workshop intends to provide a platform to discuss latest research results on STIN, in particular how edge computing, AI, and SDN can be exploited to improve the system architecture and application performance. We seek submissions covering any topics relevant to the space-terrestrial networks, including application and transmission layers of space networks, terrestrial networks, as well as coordination mechanisms of STIN. In particular, we are looking for submissions that explore how edge computing and AI can be applied to space networks, terrestrial networks, and STIN, to analyze the space-terrestrial data traffic for improving the system performance.
