Topics/Call fo Papers

Hybrid Algorithms, which combine exact and approximate solving methods, offer new possibilities of dealing with optimization problems in complex scenarios such as communication, social or computer networks and systems. Different routing, scheduling, location and reliability/availability issues naturally emerge in these types of distributed structures and must be efficiently solved, either under well-defined or uncertainty conditions. In order to do so, techniques such as metaheuristics, mathematical programming, simulation and constraint programming are combined together to efficiently explore the space of solutions. Moreover, the use of hybrid approaches is also promoted by the continuous evolution of central process units, graphical process units and distributed & parallel computing. This workshop aims at exploring state-of-the-art developments and applications in these research areas from an interdisciplinary perspective that combines approaches from Computer Science, Operations Research, Artificial Intelligence and Applied Computational Mathematics.
