The international Conference on Power and Energy Systems is organized every alternate year in the Indian subcontinent. The objective is to provide a forum for presentation of latest developments, ideas and their applications to the practice of electric power & energy systems engineering. Another major goal is to promote academic-industry interaction and foster collaboration. This Conference will be supported by IEEE.
About IIT Madras
IIT Madras is one of the premier institutions of national importance in higher technical education and basic & applied research. It was established in 1959 by the Government of India in collaboration with the German Government. IIT Madras is a township of about 250 hectares located in the city of Chennai, previously known as Madras. It is a residential institution with nearly 450 faculty members, 6200 students and 1000 administrative and supporting staff. The self-contained IIT campus is located in a beautiful wooded land with flora and fauna, carved out of the Guindy National Park. The campus has about 300 species of trees and plants including native wild ones. The Institute has sixteen academic departments and a few advanced research centers in various disciplines of engineering and pure sciences, with nearly 100 laboratories. It is conveniently located at a distance of about 12 km each from airport and railway station. In December, weather is moderate and pleasant in Chennai.
About Department of Electrical Engineering
The Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Madras will host the Fourth International Conference on Power and Energy Systems (ICPS-2011). The department started functioning right from inception and engages actively in teaching and research in all current areas of Electrical Engineering. Its alumni occupy key positions in science and technology, in education and industry both within the country and abroad.
