The conference will address new developments and trends in sustainable chemistry, including good practices, tools and concepts. The meeting will explore if and how requirements and sustainable criteria for chemistry could be defined and which indicators are needed to ensure, that progress is measurable and can be implemented in practice.
The overall goal is to support sustainable chemistry strategies in policy and the economy and to provide guidance for possible future work.
The discussion will focus on:
incentives and obstacles for innovation and implementation,
available tools, approaches and the possible need for indicators,
research and other supportive measures and concepts to foster sustainable chemistry,
challenges and opportunities that arise from global markets including international trade and corporate social responsibility aspects.
In order to achieve these objectives, the conference will be divided into three sections:
1. Setting the Scene:
Experiences from developing countries and responsibility of a globally acting industry
2. Tools, Approaches and Indicators for Promotion of Sustainable Chemistry:
Tools, approaches and indicators to assess the sustainability of chemicals.
3. Challenges for Implementing Sustainable Chemistry in Global Markets:
Opportunities and challenges for the promotion of innovative sustainable chemistry in the markets.
