Dear colleague,
It is our pleasure to invite you to participate and submit abstracts to the BioMicroWorld2011 Conference, which will be a multi-disciplinary forum that will bring together active researches involved in environmental, industrial and applied microbiology with the aim of communicating current research priorities and progress in the field, and identifying new approaches and research opportunities in applied microbiology.
BioMicroWorld2011 consolidates a series of conferences, whose last edition, held in Lisbon (Portugal) in 2009, received about 1000 abstracts to be considered for presentation and attracted more than 600 researchers from nearly 60 countries.

- Agriculture, Soil, Forest Microbiology
- Analytical and Imaging Techniques. Microscopy
- Environmental, Marine, Aquatic Microbiology. Geomicrobiology
- Food Microbiology
- Industrial Microbiology - Future Bioindustries
- Medical Microbiology - Pharmaceutical Microbiology - Antimicrobial agents and chemotherapy
- Methods - Quantitative Models and Bioinformatics in Microbiology - Technology development
- Microbial Physiology, Metabolism and Gene Expression
- Structure and Morphogenesis
SOME HOT TOPICS - SPECIAL SESSIONS
- Antimicrobial Surfaces
- Bacterial polymers: biosynthesis, modifications and applications
- Exploiting fungi in bioremediation of hazardous chemicals
- Metagenomics: complex microbial communities (soil, human body, ocean water...)
- Microbial subversion (evasion?) of eurkaryotic host cell pathways
- Antiseptics and Disinfectants: Resistance
- Biocontrol by bacteriophages
- Microbial surfaces and envelopes
- Microbial diversity: uncultivated microorganisms
- Microbe-metal interactions in the environment
- Microbial source tracking (MST) and water quality
- Exploitation of the understanding in bacterial stress responses in biotechnological and environmental applications
- Rapid microbiology of foodborne pathogens
- Attenuation of virulence as "antimicrobial" strategy
- Biofilms
- Bioremediation
- Biotechnologically Relevant Enzymes and Proteins
- Microarrays in Microbiology
- Microbial Biosensors (transducers, recognition)
- Microfactories - Microbial Production of Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals

CLOSEST KEY DATES
- 9 June 2011: Deadline for abstract submission (for oral presentations)
- 28 June 2011: Deadline for early registration
- 20 July: Deadline for abstract submission (for poster or virtual presentations)
VIRTUAL PARTICIPATION
In addition to the oral and posters presentations, a Virtual Participation mode has been established for those researchers who are unable to attend the Conference personally. These participants will be requested to send "virtual papers", which will be exhibited and discussed at the online platform for virtual participation. These papers can be prepared using Power Point, Flash or similar software, or video recordings. Please consult the conference website for details.
PRE-REGISTRATION/EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
To keep you informed about all conference details, you may fill-in the Pre-registration form, which is available at http://www.formatex.org/biomicroworld2011/preregis...
PUBLICATIONS
- Abstract Book: A Book of Abstracts will be produced including all abstracts of works presented at the Conference. Each registered participant will receive a copy at the beginning of the Conference. (It will be dispatched to virtual participants shortly after the conference).
- Proceedings: The conference proceedings will be published by World Scientific Publishing Group. This is one of the world’s leading academic publishers that will ensure an international distribution of the BioMicroWorld2011 Proceedings. All details on full paper submission for the book can be consulted in the “Call for Papers” section on the conference website. (Submission of a full paper is optional).
For any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info-AT-biomicroworld2011.com
We would also appreciate if could disseminate this Call for Papers through your Department or Institution.
We look forward to receiving your presentation proposals.
