Contributions are invited in all areas pertaining to the engineering of hybrid dynamic systems including: modelling, specification, analysis, verification, control synthesis, simulation, and implementation. Contributions on applications of hybrid methods in various fields, such as process industry, transportation systems, communication networks, safety systems, are particularly encouraged. Synthetic presentations of hybrid-system problems in these fields are also encouraged.

Deadline: 15 november 2011

The IFAC conference series on Analysis and Design of Hybrid Systems (ADHS) has focused on the broad area of hybrid dynamical systems in all its aspects. Hybrid systems arise wherever continuous and discrete dynamics interact. This is especially profound in many high-tech systems, in which logic-based components, digital networks and embedded controllers are combined with continuous physical processes. As these high-tech systems are becoming increasingly complex hybrid systems theory and engineering are indispensable for the modeling, analysis and design of these systems. The recent interest for (wireless) networked control systems (NCSs) provides a further stimulus to these appealing research area as hybrid modeling and analysis methods are relevant to many problems in NCSs. Also outside the high-tech domain hybrid systems theory plays an important role as it can describe many physical processes with compact models in areas such as system biology and constrained mechanical systems.

ADHS has already a long and rich history as ADHS'12 is the fourth conference in this series after ADHS'03 in Saint Malo (France), ADHS'06 in Alghero (Italy), and ADHS'09 in Zaragoza (Spain). In addition, the ADHS series was preceded by the successful conference series on Automation Of Mixed Processes: ADPM'92 in Paris (France), ADPM'94 in Brussels (Belgium), ADPM'98 in Reims (France) and ADPM'2000 in Dortmund (Germany). As such, the ADHS series has roots of more than 2 decades ago.

We are happy to continue this tradition and announce that the next edition of the IFAC conference ADHS will take place in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, from 6 to 8 June 2012. The aim will be to bring together international researchers and practitioners with backgrounds in control, computer science and operations research and provide an overview of the recent advances in the field of hybrid systems. As the development of systematic methods for efficient and reliable realizations of hybrid automation systems is a key issue in industrial information and control technology, also many applications of hybrid systems theory will be presented at ADHS’12.

Therefore, contributions are invited in all areas pertaining to the theory and engineering of hybrid dynamical systems including modeling, specification, analysis, verification, controller synthesis, simulation, and implementation. Contributions on applications of hybrid methods in various fields, such as networked control systems, large-scale process industries, transportation systems, energy distribution networks, communication networks, safety systems, etc, are particularly encouraged. Synthetic presentations of hybrid-system problems in these fields are also encouraged.

We are looking forward to welcome you in Eindhoven in 2012 to this inspiring event!
