Overview
In the last decade telecommunication capabilities and subscriber usage have changed dramatically, especially for mobile Internet services. Mobile/Wireless accesses are typically preferred due to the intrinsic benefits they bring, especially for ubiquitous connectivity; on the other hand the emerging services, customers' expectations and providers' constraints, altogether, urge on full technical solutions, including features like QoS, Resource Management, Content Management, AAA. Nonetheless a wide range of complementary standards cover different issues and are expected to interwork, providing extensive connection opportunities. All in all Broadband Wireless Access Networks (BWA) are supposed to continue their growth and enhancement path towards a unified, ubiquitous and seamless multi-standard coverage. For this reason the workshop FlexBWAN mainly focuses on solutions providing smart techniques for the flexible adaptation and integration of existing wireless solutions, particularly those originally meant for best-effort access.
Workshop Topics
- Service-Oriented Adaptation of Current and Future BWA Techs (e.g. UMTS, LTE, 802.16x, 802.22)
- Green Networking in BWA Network
- Heterogeneous Multi-Access Networks, Vertical and Horizontal Integration
- Self-Configuration and Self-Optimization in BWA Networks
- QoS and QoE in Mobile and BWA Networks
- Resource Management, Admission Control, and Scheduling in BWA Networks
- Broadcasting and Multicasting in BWA Networks
- Micro and Macro Mobility Management in BWA Networks
- BWA Network Management
- Capacity Planning and Traffic Engineering in BWA Networks
- Characterization of BWA Traffic
- Traffic, Mobility and Channel Models in BWA Networks
- Design and Evaluation of Testbeds and Field Trials
- Experiences/Lessons from Recent Deployments
- Alternative Network Deployments, Dense Networking for Wireless Access purpose
- Cross-Layer Optimization Concepts and Experimental Evaluation
