HardBio 2011 - IEEE International Conference on Parallel Architectures for Bioinformatics with Systems HardBio 2011
Topics/Call fo Papers
Bioinformatics is a research and statistical algorithms filed Proposes that techniques to allow efficient interpretation, classification and understanding of biological datasets. These applications are in the general benefit of mankind. The data sets typically Consist of huge numbers of DNA, RNA, or protein sequences. Sequence alignment is used to assemble the data sets for analysis. Comparisons of homologous sequences, gene finding, and prediction of gene expression are the most common techniques used on assembled data sets, however, analysis of search data sets have many applications throughout all fields of biology. The down-side of bioinformatics-related applications is that they need a humongous computational effort to be executed. Therefore, a lot of research effort is being channeled towards the development of special-purpose hardware accelerators and dedicated parallel processors that allow for efficient execution of this kind of applications.
This special session is dedicated to put together a collection of scientific and technical contribution to the field of Efficient Architectures for DNA-related applications, including parallel architectures of software and hardware accelerators, special-purpose processors, embedded systems, system-on-Chip and Network-based on-chip implementations dedicated to Bioinformatics. Therefore, we seek original manuscripts for a Special Session on Hardware for Bioinformatics Applications and related topics, scheduled to appear in the proceedings of ICA3PP 2011, to be published by LNCS, Springer-Verlag.
Authors of the best papers of the workshop will be asked to extend their work to be considered for publication in a special issue that will be published in Integration, The VLSI Journal (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/vlsi/) , Elsevier.
Papers must be submitted via email to nadia-AT-eng.uerj.br, using subject as HardBio2011 submission. All papers will be rigorously reviewed by at least three experts based on the quality: originality, organization and clarity.
