Embedded Systems and Wireless Technology: Theory and practical applications
Editors:
Dr. Raúl Aquino santos, MSc. Arthur Edwards Block (University of Colima, Mexico)
Call for Chapters:
Proposals submissions deadline: April 15, 2011
Introduction:
The increasing presence of embedded systems in products and services is presently creating huge opportunities in a variety of different areas. Embedded systems already play an important role not only in consumer electronics, but in many important and safety-critical systems. As a consequence, there is growing scientific interest in the conceptual and practical tools necessary to develop embedded systems. These systems are becoming increasingly more popular in a wide range of value-added applications. As a result, our lives are becoming increasingly dependent on embedded systems and wireless technology that is ubiquitously embedded in our environment. More than 98% of processors used today are in embedded systems that are no longer visible to their owner, which evidences the evolution from times when processors were located almost exclusively in personal computers. This miniaturization of processing capacity can be found not only in safety-critical applications such as intelligent smart houses, controllers for automotive devices, railways, aircrafts, aerospace, health care and medical devices, but also in communications technologies, mobile systems, environmental monitoring and control systems, mobile phones, PDA's, DVD players, cameras, etc. All of these technologies have wide-ranging impacts on society in the areas of security, privacy, the workplace and the home.
Objetive of the book:
The objective of the book is to explore embedded systems and wireless technologies based on theoretical aspects and practical applications in critical sectors, for example, agriculture, environment, public health, domotic, public transportation, among others.
Target Audience:
The prospective audience of the book “Embedded Systems and Wireless Technology: Theory and practical applications,” will be undergraduate and graduate students interested in embedded systems and wireless technologies and professors teaching or researching this area, as well as for practitioners in this emerging area.
