He Nursing Unit and the Education Unit of ATINER organize a Stream on “Issues in Education and Training: Preparing Students for Clinical or Professional Roles” as part of the 4thAnnual International Conference on Nursing, 7-10 May 2018, Athens, Greece sponsored by the Athens Journal of Health.
Consensus is that the global population is aging and this means that educators in universities and colleges must turn their attention to societal needs for well-trained clinical practitioners (e.g., medicine, nursing), professionals (e.g., social workers, psychologists), entrepreneurs (business, technology) and others. The health sciences sector have noted a consistently low interest among students for geriatric and gerontological specialization resulting in declining numbers of these specialists and poor succession planning. This stream intends to bring together several speakers from different disciplines to discuss the current issues in education and training related to preparing students to provide care, service and products to the aging population. These issues [that] may indeed by embedded in a global ageism but they may also have intriguing cross-cultural and cross-discipline differences worthy of exploring and learning from each other.
You may participate as presenter of one paper, chair or/and organizer of a session, or observer.
Special arrangements will be made with a local hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of special events will be organized: A pragmatic symposium (as organized in Ancient Athens but fine tuned to synchronous ethics), a special one-day educational island tour, a Mycanae and island of Poros visit, an Athens educational walking tour, an one-day visit to Delphi and an ancient Corinth and Cape Sounion visit. Details of the social program are available here.
