Introduction
Globally, energy infrastructure management is emerging as a top priority in the 21st century. This is a reflection of the criticality of issues facing the existing stock of energy infrastructure namely climate change, lack of investment, and operational inefficiencies. As such operational research methods play an integral role in seeking better energy infrastructure management solutions addressing objectives as diverse as costs, resource efficiency, sustainability, risk, and resilience. The growing complexity of energy infrastructure facilities and the increasing demand for energy due to an unprecedented pace of urbanization, have given rise to the need to depart from the traditional way of designing and operating energy infrastructure as silos toward seeing them as systems of complex systems with interconnections and decentralized elements.
Objective
The special issue on “Energy Infrastructure Systems Analysis” aims at publishing original papers on current research and practice in applying operational research techniques to incorporate social, economic and environmental dimensions, in an integrated manner, in management of energy infrastructure. In particular, we welcome full research contributions in systems modelling and analysis of energy infrastructure as complex systems and system of systems. Authors from SEES'18 conference, are invited to submit their papers (extended version) for this Special Issue.
Recommended Topics
Topics to be discussed in this special issue include (but are not limited to) the following:
Systems modelling and optimization in energy infrastructure management
Decentralization, incentives, and investment planning
Maintenance management and reliability
Modelling and analysis of risk and resilience
Analysis of interdependencies with water, transport and other infrastructure systems
Logistics and supply chain management in energy systems
Mitigation of environmental impacts associated with energy systems
Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this special theme issue on Energy Infrastructure Systems Analysis on or before 1 April 2018. All submissions must be original and may not be under review by another publication. INTERESTED AUTHORS SHOULD CONSULT THE JOURNAL’S GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS at http://www.igi-global.com/journals/guidelines-for-....
