IEEE ICME Workshop on Multimedia Mobile Cloud for Smart City Applications (MMCloudCity-2016)
July 15, 2016, Seattle, USA
Smart City vision is about realizing an instrumented, interconnected and intelligent environment to improve the quality of life of citizens by providing numerous services from anywhere and anytime. These services, such as intelligent transportation, healthcare, public safety and education are all integrated in the smart city infrastructure as part of ‘systems of systems’ landscape, where multimedia plays an indispensable role. The increasing presence of multimodal sensors, pervasive mobile devices, and collaboration among socially connected people ? all generate huge volume of mobile multimedia data that remain at stake for its effective use by citizens, city governments, and businesses. The processing, analysis, and utilization of these mobile media data for creating rich multimedia applications in smart city require huge pool of resources and on-demand resource provisioning, which are hardly available even in today’s powerful mobile devices. Fortunately, mobile cloud computing coupled with cloud’s unlimited resource availability and on-demand resource provision bring opportunities for the development of new breed of multimedia applications and services to fulfill the requirements of smart city residents.
Despite the opportunities multimedia mobile cloud can offer, there are challenges that require special attention from the multimedia researchers. Some of these challenges include: How to realize rich and real-time mobile media cloud applications for smart cities? How to guarantee the scalability of mobile cloud-based media applications? What are the best strategies for dynamic resource provision in media cloud environment? What are the performance impacts of multimedia mobile cloud? In general, this workshop seeks original research papers to highlight the challenges of multimedia mobile cloud and various multimedia applications for smart cities. The topics of interest include, but not limited to, the following:
- Architecture and design for multimedia mobile cloud for smart city
- Real-time processing of multimedia data over smart city mobile cloud
- Smart city data management support by multimedia mobile cloud
- Offloading multimedia content and processing to mobile cloud environment
- Mobile cloud-based multimedia data distribution services
- Mobile cloud-assisted multimedia content and service recommendation
- Multimedia Mobile cloud-based situation awareness in smart city
- Multimedia big data analytics on smart city mobile cloud
- Multimedia IoT services on smart city mobile cloud
- Security and privacy of multimedia mobile cloud
- Publish-subscribe system on multimedia mobile cloud
- Dynamic resource provisioning for multimedia mobile cloud
- Multimedia mobile cloud based streaming in smart city
- QoE/QoS in multimedia mobile cloud applications
- SaaS, PaaS and IaaS for multimedia mobile cloud in smart city
