EWME 2016 is the eleventh Workshop on microelectronics education to take place in Europe. The previous ones were held in Grenoble (1996, 2012), Noordwijkerhout (1998), Aix-en-Provence (2000), Vigo (2002), Lausanne (2004), Stockholm (2006), Budapest (2008), Darmstadt (2010) and Tallinn (2014). This is the first time that the Workshop has been held within the United Kingdom. EWME is held every second year in Europe, while MSE (Microelectronic Systems Education) is held every other year in the USA.
EWME 2016 will take place in Southampton, a vibrant and well-connected coastal city, which is home to 250,000 people. As a historic medieval city, Southampton is also blessed with a number of museums, unique buildings, award-winning green spaces, and Grade II listed public parks. All are within close reach of the conference venue. A number of nearby places can also be easily visited by public transport, including the New Forest National Park (15 mins), Winchester (15 mins), the Isle of Wight (30 mins), Bournemouth Beach (30 mins), Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard (60 mins), and London (80 mins).
EWME 2016 is organized by the School of Electronics and Computer Science, University of Southampton.
The purpose of the workshop is to provide a forum to exchange ideas and to discuss:
Microelectronics teaching in the future
Emerging fields in design and technology
New concepts in teaching
Multimedia in microelectronics education
Globalization and international education
Design and technological innovations
Effects of the Bologna Process on microelectronics education in Europe
Long-distance and continuous microelectronics education
Novel curricula on micro-/nanoelectronics education
Novel courses, laboratories and design projects
Industry-university collaboration on education
Entrepreneurship in micro- and nanoelectronics
Industrial roadmaps and microelectronics education
Exchange programs (compatibility of curricula, …)
