Topics/Call fo Papers

ISSS-7 is the 7th in a series of international symposia organized by The Surface Science Society of Japan. This symposium highlights recent achievements in surface and interfacial science, and related fields. Major topics include the structure, electronic states, and dynamic processes of a wide range of surfaces and interfaces, novel instrumentation and methodological development, and applications of surface science to green technologies leading renewable energy for sustainable growth. Interdisciplinary studies and discussion on the future directions of the fields are strongly encouraged.
Venue
The Shimane prefecture is one of Japanese mythological areas. The God “Susanoo-no-mikoto” conquered a serpent with 8 big heads and long tails in Japanese mythology. A bell-shaped bronze vessel relic, Dotaku, is supposed to have been put to some ceremonial use. A comma-shaped stone bead, Magatama, was used as ornamental necklaces in ancient times. At the beginning of the 17th century, a feudal lord built a formidable castle on the banks of Lake Shinji. The sun begins to set, and exquisite colors of tinting appear in the water and sky of Lake Shinji. The author Lafcadio Hearn described the beauty of Matsue and Lake Shinji, blessed with an abundance of beautiful natural scenery. Facing onto the relaxed atmosphere and appearance, Matsue has a calming influence on residents and visitors alike.
Shimane Prefectural Convention Center Matsue, Shimane, Japan
The Symposium will be held at Shimane Prefectural Convention Center (Kunibiki Messe), Matsue, Shimane (http://www.kunibikimesse.jp/14.html). The nearest airport is Izumo Airport; it is well connected from Tokyo (Haneda), Osaka (Itami), and Fukuoka airports. Yonago Airport is also available from Tokyo and Seoul (Incheon). From there, Matsue station is conveniently reached by an airport limousine bus. A local express train of Japan Railway Company is also available from Okayama station. From Matsue station it takes about 7 min on foot to get to Kunibiki Messe.

Technical Exhibitions
It is our pleasure to provide wonderful technical exhibitions giving participants and vendors a venue for sharing ideas and product information during the symposium.
Social Programs
A welcome reception, a banquet, and several half-day bus tours where you can enjoy nice autumn color scenery and some historical places will be organized.
Accommodation
Accommodation in hotels near the symposium site is available. The information will be announced on the Web page.
Abstract Submission
A one page abstract (A4 size, 297×210 mm) is required for each presentation. The abstract should consist of a title, an author list including affiliations and postal addresses, the e-mail address of the corresponding author, and the main text.
The abstract should be in PDF format (less than 1 MB in size), and submitted via the Web page.
The deadline for submission is June 27, 2014.
The author is requested to declare the preferred presentation form (oral or poster) on the Web.
Proceedings
The proceedings of ISSS-7 will be published in the e-Journal of Surface Science and Nanotechnology (open access Web-based journal). All papers will be subject to peer review. The papers are individually and immediately published on the Web after acceptance, and are unaffected by delays in other papers. There are no page limitations or fees for color figures.
