Topics/Call fo Papers

We are interested in original papers dealing with theory and/or applications of database technology and information systems. We hope to bring researchers and practitioners together at the forum and thus reduce the ever-existing gap between theory and practice in database systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Database Theory
Data Integration
Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery
Data Streams and Publish-Subscribe Systems
Data Structures
Indexing Techniques
Integration of Mixed Data (relational, hierarchical, key value and text)
Information Extraction and Natural Language Processing
Information Retrieval
Mobile Information Systems
Multimedia Databases
New Trends in Information System Design
Parallel and Distributed Databases
Query Processing and Optimization
Real-Time Databases
Replication, Caching and Materialization
Scientific and Statistical Databases
Security and Privacy
Semantic Web
Spatial and Temporal Databases
The Data Cloud and Its Infrastructure
The NoSQL Stack (key value stores, linguistic and textual indices)
Transaction Management
Web Information and Services
XML and Semi-structured Databases
SUBMISSIONS
Three types of papers are encouraged:
Full research papers (up to 12 pages): should present the accomplished research.
Research-in-progress reports (up to 4 pages): should contain an abstract describing the problem of interest and the particular goals of the research, a short description of existing related work with the analysis of differences between the existing methods and the ones proposed by the author, a summary of the results achieved so far and future work. Submissions of this type are expected to be solely authored by undergraduate or PhD students (although the scientific supervisor should be specified).
Industrial papers (up to 4 pages): should demonstrate novel or non-trivial applications of database and information systems.
Papers must represent original unpublished contributions and may not have been submitted for publication elsewhere. Submissions need to be prepared in English according to the submission instructions at http://syrcodis.ispras.ru/2013/?page_id=46
All submissions will be peer-reviewed. Every paper will be thoroughly judged by at least three reviewers on the basis of its originality, technical quality, scientific or practical contribution to the state of the art, methodology, clarity, and adequacy of references. We do not define any formal age restrictions for the authors. However, in case of borderline papers, i.e. papers balancing on the acceptance / rejection boundary, preference will be given to the submissions by undergraduate or PhD students.
If accepted, at least one of the authors must attend the colloquium to present the work in English. All accepted papers will appear in the electronic Colloquium Proceedings.
For the camera-ready version of a paper, the authors are required to provide (in a separate file) a description of changes made to their paper and how the reviewers’ comments were taken into account. The PC is authorized to reject a paper if the submission has not been improved.
Best papers of the colloquium will be published in a special issue of the scientific journal Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta. This journal is recognized by the Higher Attestation Commission of Russia (VAK). Only papers prepared using LATEX template will be considered for publication in the journal.
Papers should be submitted electronically via the SYRCoDIS submission and review system: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=syrcod.... Once you follow the link, log in to the system or, if you do not have a login, you need to sign up for an account and follow the instructions.
