12th New England Regional Genealogical Conference
17-21 April 2013
Radisson Hotel Conference Center,
Manchester, NH
NERGC 2013 presentation proposals are now being welcomed before 1 March 2012.
In keeping with our Conference theme, “Woven in History: The Fabric of New England,” successful lecture, workshop, and poster session proposals will address:
? New research methodologies and strategies, including technology and techniques;
? Our ethnic fabric ? all ethnicities welcomed;
? Finding that thread of truth ? proving or disproving family lore;
? Immigration and emigration patterns;
? New uses of sources (such as religious, civil, cemetery, military, and newspapers);
? They came to work: work ethics, culture, language, patronymic legacy;
? Finds in New England’s repositories (archives, libraries, historical societies);
? Successful research trip planning;
? Librarian and Teacher Day topics: (Wednesday only) educational and resource-
centered presentations suitable for educators and librarians
? Technology Day topics: (Wednesday only) modern technology, internet, social media,
high tech solutions;
? Family history writing and publishing ? turning your fabric into a tapestry.
Preference will be given to topics related to our theme. NERGC encourages proposals for 2-3 hour interactive workshops, especially on advanced research topics. Lecture sessions are one hour, including questions and answers. Poster sessions will be up Thursday through Saturday with one twenty-minute scheduled presentation each day [Correction: “Poster sessions will be up Friday and Saturday. Presenters will be required to do several scheduled presentations throughout the two days.”] Lecturers must provide camera-ready syllabus material by 1 December 2012. Workshop and poster session presenters must provide interactive materials for their attendees at the conference.
Presenters may submit any number of proposals. Each participating NERGC society must propose and support one presenter (who needn’t be a member of that society) for one presentation; sponsored presenter proposals must be sent to and approved by the program chair. Honoraria for sponsored presenters are determined by sponsoring societies. Non-sponsored presenters receive $225 per presentation plus a $25 bonus for submitting their syllabus materials on-time. All presenters receive a complimentary conference registration. NERGC does not cover travel, hotel, or per diem expenses.
Please include the following information with each one-page proposal. Submissions failing to contain the following information or to follow guidelines may not be considered:
? Title of lecture, workshop, or poster session
? Brief but comprehensive outline or abstract connecting to Conference theme
? Short lecture summary (30 words or less) for Conference brochure
? Audience level: beginner, intermediate, advanced
