CCY 2020: “Preparing Children and Youth to Face Emerging Challenges in the 21st Century”
As is well known, all human societies face certain unprecedented challenges in the 21st century. These include climate change, growing inequalities, both within and among countries, mass human mobility across national and regional boundaries, rapidly increasing urban populations and rise of mega cities, increasing social and political conflicts and growing competition for resources and economic opportunities. Understanding of these complexities is necessary to come up with global and local strategies to address them. Role of education at all levels in promoting such an understanding cannot be overemphasized, particularly to prepare children and empower youth to face the challenges arising from the above issues. On the other hand, resolving such pressing issues through appropriate interventions is critically important to improve the life chances and wellbeing of children and youth.
This conference is devoted to an exploration of how children and youth can be prepared to face the emerging challenges through multi-pronged action on the part of a range of stakeholders such as governments, educational institutions, media, civil society, international agencies, scientific bodies and others.
While the participation of a cross section of youth in the deliberations of the conference is critically important, contributions of researchers, service providers, policy makers and others dealing with diverse issues mentioned above can not only enhance the understanding of participants but also help identify strategies to prepare children and youth to face the challenges mentioned above.
This call for papers is intended to reach out to a wide range of contributors and participants, in particular, young researchers who can present papers on the following and other related themes.
