Emerging connected systems, such as Cyber Physical Systems and Internet of Things, will require a paradigm shift in how they are networked, organized, configured, optimized, and recovered automatically, based on their operating situations. Such emerging Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) applications aim to bring people, data, processes, and things together, to fulfill the needs of our everyday lives. With the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning, adaptive secure services and applications are gaining much attention since they allow automatic configuration of devices and their parameters, systems, and services to the user's context change to combat cyber attacks. Emerging connected systems offer plethora of benefits to our daily lives. However, there are several challenges to be addressed to provide resilient services and applications supporting the massive number of often resource-constrained IoT and other wireless devices for such connected systems. Hence, due to several unique features of emerging applications, such as low latency, low cost, low energy consumption, resilient and reliable connections, traditional security protocols and techniques are not either suitable or enough. The intersection of AI and CyberSecurity is regarded as an emerging technology for developing and implementing resilient connected cyber physical systems to combat faults caused by cyber-attacks.
In this regard, it is crucial to have AI enabled cybersecurity by design in future connected systems, considering the constraints imposed by heterogeneous IoT and CPS systems. Our aim is to promote the intersection of AI and CyberSecurity. The proposed workshop AI for Cybersecurity (AI4CyberSec) will serve as a forum for researchers from academia, government and industries, to exchange ideas, present new results, and provide future visions on these topics.
Topics include, but not limited to:
AI/ML to improve cybersecurity
AI/ML to understanding threat models
AI/ML to improve the detection of threats,
AI/ML for adaptation of systems to increase their resiliency to future cyber-attacks
Utilization of AI capabilities in cyber-physical systems
Improve security of AI/ML
Adversarial AI/ML models for system resiliency
Define and understand AI/ML vulnerabilities
Any application of AI/ML for cybersecurity
