ECCO Congress 2014 will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark on February 20-22, 2014. This will be the 9th Congress of the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation, which is the major educational event in the field of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) in Europe and has achieved immense popularity across the world.
ECCO 2014 in Copenhagen will provide a unique opportunity to gain access to the latest and best scientific information and education in adult and paediatric gastroenterology, hepatobiliary disease, endoscopy, imaging, gastrointestinal surgery related to IBD. Our aims are to advance the understanding of digestive disorders, to improve the development of guidelines through the most robust process, to define better and valid outcomes for the therapy of IBD, all to enhance patient care. By promoting research, integrating basic science and clinical practice, fostering international collaboration and friendship, IBD experts strive to bring hope and comfort to the many people who suffer from IBD.
The linear programme has eight carefully selected sessions, structured around relevant basic science, translational medicine and clinical practice with direct relevance to patient care. These are integrated with the top oral presentations and poster sessions of accepted abstracts. We will announce ECCO Fellowships and Grants and the programme also contains many other educational activities before the start of the congress. These will include the 12th IBD Intensive Advanced Course for Junior Gastroenterologists, the 7th Y-ECCO Workshop, the 3rd Clinical Trials’ (ClinCom) Workshop, the 2nd EpiCom workshop, the 8th Nurses’ N-ECCO Network Meeting and the 5th N-ECCO School. Our website www.ecco-ibd.eu/ecco14 will constantly be kept updated with information regarding the 9th Congress of ECCO. This year we are introducing our extended e-Learning platform, focusing on the timing of treatment today, its complications, the cost of treatment and burden of care, preventative therapy, and tomorrow’s world. There will be new ECCO guidelines, new work on fibrogenesis and the microbiota, new concepts in care and the ECCO Global Forum for interaction across the world of IBD.
I look forward to seeing you in Copenhagen in February 2014 and on behalf of ECCO extend a warm welcome to you all.
Yours sincerely,
Simon Travis
ECCO President & Chair of Organising Committee
