Social computing has become a hot topic attracting broad interest from not only researchers but also technologists, software and online game vendors, Web entrepreneurs, business strategists, political analysts, and digital government practitioners, to name a few.
The First Workshop on Social Web Intelligence aims to be a premier venue to gather computer science researchers and practitioners who are contributing to and interested in the social Web intelligence. This workshop offers a meeting opportunity for academics and industry researchers belonging to the communities of Web Intelligence to discuss new areas of social Web intelligence. It aims at indentifying the key challenges faced by the Web intelligence community, discuss the solutions and identify the opportunities emerging from the interdisciplinary interactions (Social Sciences ? Web technology ? Social Networks ? Artificial Intelligence).
Social intelligence describes the exclusively human capacity to effectively navigate and negotiate complex social relationships and environments. Social Web Intelligence Workshop (WOSWI) aims at exploring a Future Social Web where things play an active role as social agents, building a personal life memory, a sense of personal identity, and ultimately a social intelligence and behavior, based on their interaction with users and with their interrelatedness with other things and people both in the real and in the virtual world.
Obviously the fields of Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence have a lot to contribute to this emerging field, while at the same time new challenges and issues have yet to be defined and explored.
WOSWI wants in particular to investigate and discuss how Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence techniques and methodologies can contribute to this vision, looking into novel opportunities, challenges and open issues for Information System (IS) and AI in this context. The goal is to provide an opportunity for proposing innovative and open models, applications and scenarios, as well as new frameworks and methodologies for moving towards this envisioned future.
