WIMKC 2012 - Workshop: IoT Intelligence Management and Knowledge Coordination

The Workshop on IoT (Internet of Things) Intelligence Management and Knowledge Coordination will be held in the 2012 IEEE International Conference on Service Oriented Computing & Applications (SOCA 2012), Taipei, Taiwan, Dec. 17-19, 2012. You are cordially invited to submit an abstract to the workshop to share your ideas and research outcomes on the interdisciplinary subject on the application of the Internet of Things in societal contexts.

Goals and Themes of the Workshop

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a flourishing new technology that may have prominent influences on human beings. We can anticipate a smarter and more intelligent society with the wider adoption of the IoT-based applications and services. In coping with the far-reaching potentials of this new technology, a systemic aspect is critical to study the different types of IoT-based physical-technical-social systems, e.g. smart logistics, agile manufacturing, and intelligent cities. Such IoT-based physical-technical-social systems can, moreover, be considered as a complex "intelligent" systems, which deserve academic attentions from the diverse fields of information technology, management science, and complex systems. Knowledge coordination based on the processing of IoT-generated massive data is vital to the management of IoT-based intelligent systems. This workshop aims to fuel interdisciplinary discussions and idea exchange on the management and engineering issues behind the IoT technology, application, and services, by combining the viewpoints of IT, management, and complex systems science. The workshop topics include but are not limited to the following.
